Ubisoft has released the first official trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie, set to hit theaters on December 21st. The film stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. From the look of the trailer, the movie appears to be at least somewhat faithful to the source material. Like the games, the lead character enters the Animus in order to relive the events of his ancestor, in this case an assassin from 15th century Spain. Though the characters themselves are all new to the film, the plot and visual aesthetic are highly reminiscent of the popular game franchise.
Will the Assassin’s Creed movie buck the trend of lousy video game to movie adaptations? Watch the trailer below and judge for yourself.
